Jax didn't get his bionic arms until MK3. The actual story is Jax gave himself bionic enhancements in preparation for the Outworld invasion. Not until the butterfly effect, caused by Raiden (MK9), did Jax get dismembered. Everyone wants to act like a MK expert and say "Ermac is the one who took Jax's arms", and no one (who actually played MK3) wants to admit MK Annihilation accurately told Jax's story.
